Vera Wang Flower Princess—a perfume that sounds exactly like a princess just from its name.
Rather than a simple and modern look, it features a romantic and dreamy, pretty design. If this is your aesthetic, the bottle alone will totally win your heart. It might be overshadowed by clean, niche perfumes these days, but Vera Wang used to be a very prominent house among designer fragrances. Flower Princess and Lovestruck were especially famous for their pinkish, princess-like scents and bottle designs.
Among them, this Flower Princess is a flanker of the original Vera Wang Princess, reportedly released to target the Asian market.
The original Vera Wang Princess has purple juice with a gold crown, while Flower Princess has pink juice with a silver crown.
The scents are quite different from each other.
The original Vera Wang Princess is a heavy, musky scent with vanilla, amber, and tuberose—notes that aren’t heavily preferred by Asian consumers. On the other hand, Flower Princess is a light fragrance with a harmonious blend of bright fruity and floral notes.
Upon the first spritz, a fruity scent emerges. It smells like a highly aromatic tangerine—refreshingly sweet and universally likable. Soon after, a gentle floral scent rises. It’s a light, breezy fragrance.
I felt it was somewhat in a similar vein to Versace Bright Crystal. A pinkish floral and fruity scent. However, it feels much airier and lighter than the Versace. It literally feels like a shampoo scent wafting through swaying flowers.
The main scent is floral, with about a spoonful of refreshing fruitiness. It’s somewhat similar to Elastine Perfume Shampoo, closer to a natural body wash or shampoo scent rather than a typical perfume. Because of this, it gives off a “just-stepped-out-of-the-shower” vibe. That fresh, post-shower feeling.
Honestly, I couldn’t really detect the dry down (base notes).
Which means the longevity isn’t that great, haha.
It just smells like a natural shampoo scent the whole time, and then it’s gone. They say it becomes cozy with musk notes, but by that time, the scent has completely vanished, so I couldn’t even tell. You literally have to bury your nose into your skin and sniff hard to catch it, making it feel somewhat pointless.
Just in case, I sprayed it on a tester strip, and it does leave a dry down there. It remains as a very faint floral scent, closer to a powdery body lotion than shampoo. But at this point, I think it’s safe to say the dry down is practically non-existent on the skin. The note transition isn’t dramatic, nor is the lasting power good.
Despite all this, there’s a reason why I love this perfume.
One hot summer day, I was waiting for a bus at a bus stop. A woman sat down on the bench next to me. I was so hot and exhausted, just zoning out next to her, when suddenly a strong gust of wind blew. It wasn’t a cool breeze, just a hot summer wind.
I was annoyed and internally screaming, but at that exact moment… the woman’s hair fluttered in the wind, and an incredibly good scent radiated from her.
What is this? This clean, freshly showered, floral shampoo scent?
A subtle, beautiful floral fragrance!
Maybe because it smelled like she had just stepped out of a shower, that hot air suddenly felt refreshing. It wasn’t overwhelming at all, just purely pleasant.
I should have asked her what she was wearing right then, but while I was hesitating, she got on her bus and left—a sad story.
Since then, I frantically searched for a “shampoo scent perfume,” which ultimately led me to Vera Wang Flower Princess. However, it wasn’t that exact scent. Hers was probably just actual shampoo… Still, I liked this perfume because it was the closest thing to that memory.
And one tip? It’s actually better to rub this perfume in rather than just spray it.
When I just sprayed it, the scent felt like it evaporated too quickly, which was underwhelming. But one day, I accidentally sprayed too much and wiped it with my hands. I noticed a beautiful scent lingering continuously on my hands after that.
Thinking “This is it,” I broke the golden rule of fragrances: I intentionally rubbed the perfume in and completely ‘broke’ the top notes. Usually, rubbing a perfume after spraying ruins the notes, so it’s not recommended. But personally, I intentionally break the notes to wear it. Of course, fragrance is highly subjective (depends on the person and the nose), so use whatever method works best for you.

It’s a very versatile daily item that doesn’t depend heavily on personal taste, making it wearable anytime, anywhere.
Because it smells exactly like a fresh shower and shampoo, it’s great to spray even when you haven’t washed, haha.
Points of Caution (Cons)
The scent is great, but you might be the only one who knows it. Even if I spray it generously, no one else notices. I occasionally catch whiffs of the lovely scent while walking, but others have no idea.
Depending on your physical condition, it can sometimes induce nausea. It occasionally pierces the nose with a slightly metallic smell. Combined with the aquatic note, it makes my stomach a bit queasy. Is it because of the Water Lily note?
And sometimes, it smells like a restroom, lol. I mean, if my condition is good, it smells like a fragrant, fresh-out-of-the-bathroom scent, but if my condition is bad, it smells like a public restroom… ugh.
As an older designer fragrance, there are many fakes floating around on the internet, so be careful.
